Our lab is committed to unravel the molecular and cellular basis of immune-mediated diseases, with a focus on Rheumatic diseases and apply this knowledge to the benefit of patients. We are a dedicated group of international scientists who value teamwork, qualitatively and ethically-sound research, and a friendly and constructive working atmosphere above anything else in our day-to-day work.

Finally, our team is well integrated into several European networks (including two Horizon-Europe consortiums), and we take pride in collaborating regularly with complementarity-skilled experts within these consortiums.

Mission & Goals

Our mission is to understand the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases and develop new and personalized therapeutic approaches to improve the life of patients with rheumatic diseases.

Our lab is international and multi-cultural and values teamwork, qualitatively and ethically-sound research and a friendly but professional atmosphere above all. As team members, we help each other frequently to solve more rapidly technical and conceptual challenges for our research. We also meet more formally on a regular basis to discuss our research and recent advances in the field during Group meetings and Journal clubs.

Finally, we also know how to relax, take a step back from research and maintain our team spirit during multiple social events that we organize along the year.

Affiliations

Our lab is located within the General Hospital of Vienna (Allgemeines Krankenhaus, AKH Wien) situated at the edge of the 9th district of Vienna in Austria, and is affiliated to the Medical University of Vienna, a universally recognized authority in matters of health since the Middle Ages and one of the birthplaces of specialized medicine in the 18th and 19th century.

Our lab belongs to the Division of Rheumatology, one of the leading European centres for diagnosis, therapy and research in Rheumatology.

More than 10,000 rheumatic patients are treated annually at our centre according to the highest standards of care, which allows us to benefit from a uniquely wide and well-maintained biobank and databank to foster our research.

Are you interested in joining our team and shape with us new advances in understanding and treating Rheumatic Diseases?
